• Marquette Bank Supports Affordable Housing Month in Illinois 

    Neighborhood Bank celebrates Illinois Affordable Month during March 

     

    Orland Park, IL (March 1, 2012) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, is participating in Illinois Affordable Housing Month, during March, which was created by Housing Action Illinois. Affordable Housing Month seeks to raise awareness about housing issues in the state. Housing Action Illinois is a coalition of nonprofit organizations, individuals and corporations throughout the state, who care about and believe in the importance of decent, affordable, accessible housing in Illinois for low-and moderate-income households.

    Governor Pat Quinn has proclaimed March 2012 as Illinois Affordable Housing Month and urges"the talents of grassroots organizations, non-profit housing professionals, financial institutions, elected officials and government must be combined to address the immense challenge ofensuring that every person in Illinois has access to affordable housing."

    Marquette Bank is celebrating Illinois Affordable Housing Month by raising awareness of the various grant programs available to home buyers through the Bank and by hosting home financing educational ppportunities. The Bank started the Marquette Bank Affordable Housing Foundation in 2007 and works with various organizations and government agencies on housing issues in Chicago.

    Marquette Bank offers various home finance grant programs for qualifying individuals that help cover the down payment or closing costs. Some of the most popular include:

    • Marquette Bank Affordable Housing Foundation Grant (up to $5,000)
    • Federal Home Loan Bank – Down Payment Plus Program Grant (up to $8,000)
    • Illinois Housing Development Authority (IDHA) Smart Move Loan and Down Payment Program (up to 3% of purchase price to maximum amount of $6,000)
    • IHDA Welcome Home Heroes Loan and Down Payment Program (up to $10,000)

     

    Grants are offered based on certain qualifying factors including: income, military status, if it’s the buyer’s first home or whether the property is in a low-and moderate-income area. Qualifying individuals may also be required to attend a special education session.

     

    In honor of Illinois Affordable Housing Month, the Bank is also offering home financing educational sessions in two different formats. A Free Mortgage Seminar in Oak Forest, co-hosted by the ‘Marquette Club’ – the Bank’s senior club, will focus on mortgages, refinancing and home equity with a special emphasis on options for seniors. Marquette Bank will also offer a two-part Free Home Buyer Education Class geared toward new home buyers where participants earn a Home Buyer Education Certificate and learn the entire home buying process.
