• Employees of Marquette Bank Donate Over 200 Easter Baskets to the Port Ministries

Local Bank employees celebrate Easter through community service

Orland Park, IL (April 10, 2012) – Employees of Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, filled over 200 Easter baskets with candy and toys for the Port Ministries’ Bread Truck to deliver to less fortunate children in the Chicagoland area. During March and April, employees donated their time and effort to ensure families in need would have a happy Easter.

“This is the second year that Marquette Bank has volunteered to donate Easter baskets to the Port Ministries,” said Betty Kosky-Harn, Executive Vice President. “Our employees continue to show their generosity and support for the Port Ministries and this year’s Easter baskets project was a heart-warming success.”

For over 20 years, the Port Ministries has been a multi-faceted ministry to the poor and homeless families in Chicago. Throughout the years, they have expanded in response to the increasing needs of area residents, including delivering food with their Bread Truck. The Bread Truck is essentially a mobile soup kitchen which “hits the streets” daily to provide nutritious meals to the poor. In the summer months, they serve approximately 375 lunches to children each day in local parks. All food items are donated by individuals, schools, churches and other organizations and the truck is manned by one coordinator and committed volunteers. Marquette Bank’s support of the Port Ministries is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment where each quarter the Bank focuses on a different area of need – shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
