• Marquette Bank Supports 26th Annual Misericordia Candy Days

Long-time employee takes lead on fundraising for local non-profit

Orland Park, IL (April 30, 2012) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, recently participated in the 26th Annual Misericordia Candy Days. Misericordia is a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides support and care for people with developmental disabilities. Bank employees helped raise over $1,000 for Misericordia by handing out nearly 900 bags of jelly beans in exchange for donations.

For the past four years, Terry Keating, a 40-year employee of Marquette Bank, has collected donations in her neighborhood for Misericordia Candy Days. Last year, she proposed the idea of participating in the event to bank employees and now the bank has made it part of its annual fundraising effortst .

“Misericordia is a much needed organization for people with disabilities in our community,” said Terry Keating, Marquette Bank employee. “I’m honored that I am able to spread awareness and help Misericordia. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my fellow co-workers at Marquette Bank.”

Misericordia, founded in 1921, currently provides care for more than 600 children and adults with developmental disabilities on its 31-acre Chicago campus. Residents come from diverse racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Twenty percent of residents come from families living in poverty or are wards of the State. Misericordia Candy Days began in 1985 and has enlisted thousands of volunteers to help to raise funds and awareness about the organization across Chicagoland.

The Bank’s participation in Misericordia Candy Days is a part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the Bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
