• Marquette Bank Donates Nearly 42,000 Meals to Local Food Banks

Employees, customers and neighbors fight hunger through 5th Annual Neighborhood Food Drive

Orland Park, IL (July 23, 2012) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, wrapped up its Fifth Annual Neighborhood Food Drive, which began in early May. With help from bank employees, customers and neighbors, the bank was able to collect nearly 42,000 meals for families in need. The food items collected were donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB), where they will be distributed to local food banks and pantries in the Chicagoland area.

“At Marquette Bank, we pride ourselves in giving back to the communities we’re part of,” said Betty Kosky-Harn. “Organizations like the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank, and the generosity of our employees and neighbors help make our food drive a success year after year.”

Collection barrels were provided by the Greater Chicago Food Depository and placed in all Marquette Bank locations. Employees, customers and neighbors were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items into the branches. Bank employees and their family members contributed more than 165 volunteer hours at the Greater Chicago Food Depository during the Neighborhood Food Drive, taking shifts sorting and packing food. Since 2008, Marquette Bank has donated more than 260,000 meals to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank through its Neighborhood Food Drive.

The Neighborhood Food Drive is a part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the Bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
