Marquette Bank Employees Support Pancreatic Cancer Research
2nd Annual Evelyn's Walk raises money for the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation
Orland Park, IL (July 30, 2012) –– Employees of Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, recently held a walk in to raise money for pancreatic cancer research. The walk, in its second year, was originally inspired by the memory of Evelyn Schap, a retired, bank employee, who passed away from pancreatic cancer. This year the walk also celebrated other family members of employees who lost their battle with the disease through a special photo project. The event, held in Orland Park, gathered over 60 employees and family members and collected more than $1,600 in donations for the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. “I worked with Evelyn and also lost my father to pancreatic cancer,” said Nina Sonsikoski, Marketing Manager and organizer of the walk. “Having this walk in their memory is a way to honor them, raise awareness about the disease, and raise money for pancreatic cancer research.” The event is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment where each quarter, the Bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
