Marquette Bank Supports St. Rita's 2012 Learn to Earn iPad Camp
Local Bank helps students earn iPads through sponsorship of summer business camp
Orland Park, IL (August 25, 2012) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, was one of nine businesses to sponsor the Learn to Earn iPad Camp, a summer business camp for local 5th, 6th and 7th graders, run by St. Rita of Cascia High School. The purpose of the two week summer program was to teach the campers about business, entrepreneurship and give them the opportunity to earn an Apple iPad. Campers worked on money creating projects and heard guest speakers from the business community. For the Bank’s participation, campers were encouraged to practice their business skills by promoting Marquette Bank savings accounts to friends and family and were rewarded with a $25 donation toward their iPad purchase for each account opened during the camp. “Marquette Bank and St. Rita have a long history together,” said Larry Adamski, Branch Manager. “This summer program was a great opportunity for the students to learn about business in a way that was fun and it was a wonderful opportunity for the bank to meet new families in the area.” During the Learn to Earn iPad Camp, students opened 35 accounts resulting in a donation of $875 from Marquette Bank. This donation was part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where the Bank focuses each quarter on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. Other education activities included the Marquette Bank Education Foundation Scholarship Program, the annual School Supply Drive and the Adopt-A-Classroom prize drawing.
