• Marquette Bank Employees Raise Funds and Donate Pet Supplies to Local Animal Shelters
Neighborhood bank employees hold 3rd annual animal awareness drive

Orland Park, IL (March 22, 2013) – Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, recently wrapped up its 3rd Animal Awareness Drive, an employee-led initiative to raise awareness of challenges facing animals and local animal shelters. Through their efforts, bank employees generated more than $1,200 in donations and collected more than 250 pet items that benefitted local animal rescue organizations.

“Our employees continue to show their love and support for animals by donating to our Animal Awareness Drive,” Cheryl Erwin, Marquette Bank employee and Animal Awareness Drive organizer, said. “As a neighborhood bank, we know that it is important to help out the people in our communities, but we are also aware that local animal shelters need our assistance as well.”

During the Animal Awareness Drive, Marquette Bank employees were encouraged to donate pet-related items including food, blankets, leashes, collars, cat litter and toys. Bank employees raised money by taking part in bank-wide “Jeans Days,” hosting a bake sale and participating in Marquette Bank’s Employee Pet Photo Contest. Employees paid an entry fee to submit photos of their pets and the winner of the “Picture Perfect Pet” was selected through an employee vote.

Over 100 photos were entered and the winning photo was of Coco, a poodle belonging to Marisol Guzman, an employee at Marquette Bank’s Pulaski branch. As a part of their commitment to the cause, bank employees also held a pet adoption event at Marquette Bank’s Aurora branch in March and volunteered at the Mardi Gras for PAWS event held at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park.

All items collected during the Animal Awareness Drive were donated to the following local organizations:

    • Animal Welfare League – Chicago Ridge
    • Heavenly Orphans Rescue – Chicago Ridge
    • PAWS Chicago – Chicago
    • PAWS Tinley Park – Tinley Park
    • Reach Out Rescue – Oak Lawn
