    Neighborhood bank participates in Illinois Affordable Housing Month during March 

    Orland Park, IL (March 3, 2013) – Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank is recognizing Illinois Affordable Housing Month by promoting its various grant programs intended to help eligible homebuyers with down payment assistance and other fees. The grant programs are part of the Marquette Bank Affordable Housing Foundation, launched in 2007, which awards grants to qualified homebuyers in targeted areas.

    "As a neighborhood bank, we feel that it is important to keep home financing affordable, especially for low- to moderate-income households," Manuel Jimenez, Vice President of Community Reinvestment, said. "The Illinois Affordable Housing Month is an excellent time for potential homebuyers to learn about the options available to them that could help with down payments, closing costs or other fees associated with purchasing a home."

    Below are Marquette Bank’s various home finance grant programs available to: qualified homebuyers:

    • Marquette Bank Affordable Housing Foundation Grant (up to $5,000 in down payment assistance)

    • Federal Home Loan Bank – Down Payment Plus Program Grant ($6,000 capped at 25 percent of first mortgage amount)

    • IHDA Smart Move Loan and Down Payment Program ( 3 percent of purchase price to maximum amount of $6,000 in down payment assistance)

    • IHDA Welcome Home Heroes Loan and Down Payment Program (up to $10,000 in down payment assistance) 


    Eligible homebuyers may also be required to attend a special education session. Grants are offered based on qualifying factors including: income, whether it is the buyer’s first home, whether the property is in a low-and moderate-income area or if the buyer has served in the military.

    Marquette Bank is also offering a home financing education session in March to help homebuyers learn more about its grant programs and understand their financing options. The free mortgage seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 5p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Marquette Bank branch located at 6316 S. Western Ave. in Chicago. The seminar will be presented by Ben Liddell, Community Lending Specialist, and will focus on the home buying process.

    Marquette Bank offers free educational opportunities throughout the year for interested individuals. Community Lending Specialists are also available to perform free home financing workshops for local senior clubs, neighborhood churches or community groups.
