Marquette Bank Partners with Toy Box Connection to Host Annual Golf Outing
Neighborhood bank employees help children's charity plan and host golf outing fundraiser
Orland Park, IL (August 26, 2013) – Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, recently teamed up with Toy Box Connection as the flagship sponsor for the 4th annual Toy Box Connection Golf Outing at Silver Lakes Country Club in Orland Park. Toy Box Connection is a local nonprofit 501(c) organization located in the south suburbs that connects children in need with toys. Over 90 golfers and guests attended the outing and almost $8,000 was raised and donated to the charity. “Toy Box Connection would like to thank all of the golfers, guests, sponsors and volunteers that helped make our 4th annual Golf Outing a great success and we look forward to having an even bigger turnout next year,” Michelle Maxia, Founder of Toy Box Connection, said. “It’s only with the help and support of the local businesses and community that this event is possible.” Toy Box Connection members and bank employees worked together to plan the event and find golfers, sponsors and volunteers. Marquette Bank employees contributed over 300 volunteer hours in planning, preparing and working at the golf outing. Golfers and guests were encouraged to bring a new or gently used toy and over 200 toys were collected and donated to Toy Box Connection which will be distributed to local organizations that will give them to children in need. “Marquette Bank is very proud of all the employees who volunteered their time to help an organization with such a positive impact on the community and we look forward to working with Toy Box Connection again in the future,” Joyce Latkowski, First Vice President and Tournament Chairperson, said. “As a neighborhood bank, we feel it is important to help out local organizations, like Toy Box Connection, as much as we can.” Marquette Bank’s partnership with Toy Box Connection is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need – shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. The bank also partners with Toy Box Connection during the holiday season to help distribute toys to children around the Chicagoland area, including projects at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn and Clara’s House, a homeless shelter for families, in Chicago. About Toy Box Connection: Toy Box Connection was started in June 2008 by Michelle Maxia, an Orland Park mother of two and retired police officer. The primary goal of the organization is to touch the life of a child through the gift of a toy. It serves as a connection between families and businesses that have new or gently used toys to donate. Since its inception, Toy Box Connection has distributed over one million toys to nonprofit groups that, in turn, have given them to hundreds of thousands of children in need. Such nonprofit groups include Together We Cope, Loyola’s Ronald McDonald House, Lambsfold Women’s Center and Mooseheart Orphanage.
