• Marquette Bank Completes Annual Neighborhood School Supplies Drive

Local bank donates school supplies to neighborhood schools and organizations

Orland Park, IL (Sept. 16, 2013) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, wrapped up its Neighborhood School Supplies Drive, which is held annually to benefit local students, neighborhood schools and organizations in need of supplies for the upcoming school year. Items were donated by employees, customers and neighbors throughout July and August and were given to eight local schools and organizations in time for the new school year. In addition, over 50 backpacks filled with a variety of school supplies were given to students with specific needs.

“Our Neighborhood School Supplies Drive is a tradition at the bank that makes all of us proud because we are able to help hundreds of students start their school year off on the right foot.” Betty Kosky-Harn, Executive Vice President, said. “This year’s remarkable results would not have been possible without the generous donations of our customers and employees.”

Donated items were accepted at all Marquette Bank locations throughout the Chicagoland area and additional supplies were purchased with money raised through Marquette Bank employee fundraising activities. The following organizations in Marquette Bank neighborhoods benefitted from the initiative:

    • Englewood Cares - Chicago
    • Esmond School - Chicago
    • Jacqueline B. Kennedy School - Burbank
    • Latino Organization of Southwest - Chicago
    • Metropolitan Family Services - Chicago
    • St Richard School - Chicago
    • Walter Fierke Education Center - Oak Forest
    • Winston Child Care - Chicago

The Neighborhood School Supplies Drive is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need – shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. Other education activities include: the Marquette Bank Education Foundation Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships to 54 local graduating seniors and the Adopt-A-Classroom Prize Drawing, an initiative that benefits 23 neighborhood classrooms.
