• Marquette Bank Employees Donate Over 200 Easter Baskets to Port Ministries Charity
Local bank employees celebrate Easter holiday through community service

Orland Park, IL (April 8, 2013) – Employees of Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, filled over 200 Easter baskets with candy and toys for the Port Ministries’ Bread Truck to deliver to less fortunate children in the Chicagoland area. During March, employees volunteered to purchase Easter basket items to ensure families in need would have a nice Easter holiday.

“We started the Easter basket program with Port Ministries three years ago and were initially concerned that we would not fill our quota,” Betty Kosky-Harn, Executive Vice President, said. “Luckily, we are fortunate to have generous employees and have given out almost 650 Easter baskets to less fortunate children in the Chicagoland area since the program’s inception.”

For over 20 years, Port Ministries has been a multi-faceted ministry to poor and homeless families in Chicago. Throughout the years, they have expanded in response to the increasing needs of area residents, including delivering food with their Bread Truck, which is essentially a mobile soup kitchen that “hits the streets” daily to provide nutritious meals to the poor. All food items are donated by individuals, schools, churches and other organizations and the truck is manned by one coordinator and committed volunteers.
