Holiday Care Packages Sent to Troops

Orland Park, IL (Oct. 6, 2016) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, is hosting its tenth annual Adopt-a-Soldier program. Care packages filled with donated items will be sent to soldiers deployed overseas during the upcoming holiday season. Donations from customers, employees and neighbors will be accepted at all bank locations through November 5 and packages will be prepared by Marquette Bank employees. Local schools are invited to make holiday cards or write thank you letters which will be included in the care packages.
“The Adopt-a-Soldier project brings the community together to support the troops who are on duty during the holidays,” said Georgeanne Krueger, Assistant Vice President. “We want them to know we appreciate their sacrifice and their service as they are away from their families.”
Last year, Marquette Bank assembled 75 care packages for soldiers away from home during the holiday season. Families who wish to sign up their military loved one can do so online at: www.emarquettebank.com/Adopt-a-Soldier2016.
Most needed items, by soldiers, include: batteries (AA or AAA); breakfast/granola/power bars; chicken or tuna kits (can or pouch); canned fruit (cans only, single serving); cereal/granola/power bars; crossword/puzzle books; deodorant (stick only); disposable razors; fruit snacks/rollups; holiday candy/gum; hot chocolate powder packets; instant oatmeal packets; iTunes gift cards; mechanical pencils; medicated foot powder; powdered single serve drink mix; new DVDs/music CDs; nuts/trail mix; peanut butter/jelly (plastic jars only); Pringles; shave cream (non-aerosol); beef jerky; antacids; and wet wipes.
